Unfortunately, it didn't work out well for either of them. My Dad remarried and got divorced. My Mom remarried and got widowed.

Unfortunately, the part that said "till death do us part" has been changed to "as long as we FEEL like it"!

My food diary experiment is ending.
- I fell behind for a few days and it got too hard to catch up.
- And some time ago, I just got ravenous and ate like mad.
- Just too difficult to make entries if you're eating irregular meals.
- At least I'm still going to the gym, got that going for me.

Yep it seems like whenever you try to control your eating by too much your brain fights w/ you tempting you w/ all these things you know are in your cupboards or out in the world at your fingertips. It doesn't help when you have other people in your house that eat anything they want in front of you. I still try tho and have been cutting back my portions and rather than wait to long till I can't stand it anymore for a snack I have been trying to just kind of eat a little all day and trying to make it good things instead of too many high bad carb items. Like grab an apple or piece of cheese, a pickle, olives and lots of water...............getting tired of the water tho as having this kidney stone I need lots of it :cautious:

There are some days when I just need to eat meat and fatty stuff. Veggies and fruits are all good, but some days they just don't cut it.

And it's not as if I'm a big meat eater. My wife has pretty much cut beef out of our diet except for occasional steaks (and even then I only eat 8oz or less). So we subsist mainly on chicken or turkey when it comes to meat dishes.

Ah well. And I don't know if it's our lousy weather that does it. On good days you wanna go out, but days like what we're having today...

I was so busy aound the house painting and movng stuff around and working hard at work, never had tme to read this good thread!!!
If you eat the foods of our "forefathers" I really believe you will be much more happy, satisified, stronger and heathier! I fry my potatos in lard and coconut oil, deep fry in pure animal fat, and eats lots of animal fats. I have tons of energy when compared to most of the other people I work with, most of which are half my age too!!! You have to avoid the packaged junk foods like potato chips fried in vegetable oil and avoid pop and sugar like the plague!! Eat fresh wholesome foods and shop "around the OUTSIDE edges" of the store where you will find the fresh produce, fresh dairy, fresh meat, and fresh bakery, the "INSIDE" of the store contains mostly junk food.... :)

How far back do we go?
I'm thinking that our forefathers mainly ate a lot of veggies because meat was hard to come by.
I don't think meat or beef was a regular staple until the American meat industry took off when they started having mega farms. Was that in the 30's?

This forum has become that sort of place that any newcomer coming in would have no idea what we are talking about...

yep if they wander into our general chat section, most will be lost
