hah yeah got two non return valves regardless, is above water level on a stable surface etc.

My living is entertainments tech (including install) internal and external of all sorts of electrics and pyro, im very much used to outdoor installations (although normally by the lorry load).

I did add a bit of silicone sealant to some areas to make double sure

And just started to build a new filter system. Will be current filter acting as mechanical until i get a sieve, then three of these chambers linked by 4" pipe, one with 250L of flocor, going into one with 150L of K1 (aerated by 70L pump), going into a third acting as a veg filter to soak up all the nutrients, before hitting the waterfall and back in. Should be ready to get going next week sometime.

they dont touch the watercress, its up in the waterfall only! They are however being munched away by slugs and the birds that use it to bath. Never mind, still trimming about an inch a week off the top to maintain the growth!

Yes I know my poor hungry fishies are being starved to death! They sure do come running now when I do get around to feeding them. Don't worry they get fed a couple times a week...............I can't resist their cute little faces

Why is it anyway that they always look starved? Mine do that too, they follow me around the pond with hungry mouths, then my husband says "their starved didn't you feed them? Dog food seams to fill them for a little longer, the big ones come half out of the water for dog food!

dog food/biscuits have been a commonly used fish bait for years and years around here [going back ~20years now], its cheap, commonly available, and floats!

See no reason why it wouldnt make good bigkoi food.

Hmmmm then why am I buying goldfish or pond food for my Gf and couple Koi  Is there a certain brand you feed them Colleen? How do the little Koi know that df is for the bigger Koi? Is it nutritionally sound or should it not really matter? Very interesting! ;)

I feed my dogs and fish a "grain free" diet and when we compared the ingredients between the fish food and dog food, we (husband and me) decided that the dog food was better. I know other people that feed their fish dog food too, think dog food is better quality overall.. Farmed fish are fed "fish food" and I heard farmed fish are not good to eat cause the fish food is not good. The dog food I get is made here in Alberta, called "origin" for puppies, we buy the "large breed puppy" food for our large dogs cause it's higher in fat and we think that satuated fat is the best and helps keep them from getting fat, their full longer and grains make people and dogs fat, not saturated fat... and the Bible tells me "fat" is the best!:) :) :) :)
