Oh yeah... no branches anywhere near the pond, the pond is far away from my "crappy trees" The old ones that are always dropping branches.

wood mulch could be a nightmare too remember they treat it with chemicals for the insects that are in it and beside putting dyes in it .I you go with some thing around it make marble chips or something like that .I saw a neighbor use rubber mulch and what a nightmare that was too .Any kind of stone but not mulch I use marble chips and river rocks I buy at lowes

Yep.. Sissy is right about the mulch. This is our third summer with the pond. The first year we had wood mulch and the dye made the water reddish brown for two years. Could not find anything, including charcoal, that would get the red out. No wood or licorice mulch this year or last. I planted creeping Jenny and ajuga around the edges and it has spread enough to keep the edges from needing anything. Now we just use leaf mulch from our our fall cleanup for the gardens beyond the pond. The water is still slightly tinted, but NOTHING like it was.

I have mulch on my slope, but only double shredded, no dyes, have not had issues with tinting of the water.

I go through 20 yards a season, would never get that much chipped. But good for you, I used to have a chipper, gave it to my brother years ago before I moved to where I could use a chipper.

We have many limbs of Doug Fir trees and we keep the lower branches trimmed off. We mulch every few yrs and end up w/ lot of chips from our chipper. Lots of work but we have to either burn or chip and since we can always use the chips its the way to go for us.

addy I'm so nervous waiting for the mail. It usually comes between 11am and noon. I can't stand this waiting! I keep looking out the window for the mail lady. I'll let you know what happens as soon as she comes. Hoping for the best!
