Well I think it was a culmination of everything. We did a week of natural, let it happen and added lots of beneficial bacteria. It was REALLY HOT during that week so things had plenty of energy to spread and multiply (good and bad).

We added a ton of plants. The plants were all in shock at first but just as it started clearing I noticed leaves and roots were beginning to take off again :.) As they take off they are creating more shade too.

And finally for the last 3 days the UV was kicked in. Yes, the UV is probably the biggest reason but I would like to think that we have been doing enough "natural" things on top of it that we can turn the UV off and only need it for "special" occasions (and I know we will have more of them).

Also looking at a big offset umbrella at Raleys (supermarket) to add some more shade and help out :alieneyesa:

Off set umbrellas are good but if you get a lot of wind it could be a problem a shade sail works better I put 2 metal poles in the ground almost 3 ft. and made and strung up the shade sail .I bought the fabric at sams club for 30 dollars and the metal poles were 20 dollars for 4 .The hooks I had and the sewing machine to sew the fabric I had

Was kinda thinking about something like that as well. Last night was the 4th of July so we had lots of company over all day and everyone loved the pond. Even though it has a lot to be hidden still, I think people can finally see our vision....and our fish!

Well, been a while now but finally have more progress  Still need to put together the little structure to hide the filter and stuff and find a permanent solution to the lilies but getting there! Also, the giant pile of rocks is now all gone :luxlove: Hard to take pics of him, but i also got a black chagoi gin rin that is awesome! He started feeding out of my hand in less than 24 hours and is the friendliest guy in the pond (even more than my Matsuba).
