Milkweed plant insight needed

I love tropical milkweed - so pretty! And even though it's "tropical" mine re-seeded in other parts of my garden (and my neighbor's... ahem). So word to the wise - cut off the seed pods before they burst unless your neighbors are as crazy about milkweed as you are!

I would not cut them. Mine are just now producing buds on mostly empty stems.

At this rate in August already, I do not think mine will produce any flowers. I see small little stem shoots growing very slowly from the base of the big lanky infested stem. So that's why I was wondering maybe I could start it over without the red mites.

They are pretty. I remeber buying some but returnd it bc at that time I was looking for the swamp milkweed.
