Yes, Lucky Bamboo is not a true bamboo in the Grass Family (Poaceae). It is actually Dracaena sanderiana, a close relative of other Dracaena that are often grown as houseplants. It does grow well in bog conditions but it is frost tender and will only survive the Winter outdoors in USDA Zones 10 and higher.I've never seen bamboo (likely the national plant) near or in ponds in Asia. That's a good indication why not. As mentioned above, the plant in question is "lucky bamboo" which is actually not from the real bamboo family.
