Looking for a resonably priced high water level detector

I know this sounds a little hard, but it's not intended to be. We live in a rural area and have to rely on a well. Being very water conscious we wouldn't dream of relying on an automatic filling system and only add water manually by opening a valve and keeping an eye on the progress.
