Cool idea by EricV!
Roll it over the liner and instant island or at least a great focal point.
I would put down some underlayment or carpet and roll it onto that just to be sure.

Underlayment or scraps of liner or both, yeah. I did the same for any large or rough rock I put in my pond.

You can leave it apply fabric up and over it but make sure there's plenty of material around it so the rubber doesn't get stretched. But do what we do when we find boulders that are to big. Dig a hole within the excavation close to the boulder. And roll it in

Another option is to lay some fabric down on the bottom roll the boulder onto t gg e fabric and then use 4 people vtoo grab a corner and. Drag the boulder out .

I don't know if you have any handy, but when I had a rock I couldn't move I used some leather straps that I got under it so I could pull it (also with the help of another).

We lifted really big rocks with a good sized scrap of underlayment - works great as it gives you something to grab on to, you can roll the rock on to it to get under it, and we could even drag it if it was too heavy to lift. We originally had a pot lifter like @EricV suggested which also worked great - it just broke when we were about 75% done and needed to come up with a DIY solution - hence the "grab a piece of underlayment" idea was born.

Does anyone you know have an engine cherry picker? I've rented them to pull engines out of classic cars.
Is there a tree nearby? You could rent a chain fall or a come-along and crank that thing right out of there.
