check with garden centers and ask to put a posting up .I started that way and now cannot keep up with demand for babies .Never sold them I just give them away .I pull the ones out I want to give away .I gave away some really pretty fish that looked plain when i gave them away but most pics i get back from people are of fancy tails

Do you feed your fish everyday T? If so then cut down or don't feed them at all or just once in great while. The less food the less population is what I have found in the past. I didn't feed my goldfish for years and they did fine w/all the bugs and algae, worms etc. that fell into the pond. Less food = less babies and also they will eat any eggs that are laid. Now tho I must confess I do enjoy feeding the little buggers as they are so cute coming to me w/their little pie holes wide open. I have friends here that have ponds so if I get too many I can give them away. You need to convince your friends to dig ponds so you can unload yours on them.

I meet them at the garden center with a tote with a few fish in it .Since they are little it is easy and I tell them to bring something to put the fish in .I have a battery operated aerator .

I take milk jugs full of pond water and transfer them to there containers with the milk jugs of water .I agree the jw the less you feed the less babies and even removing eggs will help .I have only ever taken a few fish to peoples homes and only because I know them or someone I know knows them and if they are not to far or they need help with there pond

I don't but the Hubby does. I have told him 1000 times we don't need to feed them everyday, and we definitely don't need to feed them a lot...This morning he was "making it rain" fish food.
LOL

Ok then tell him it will now become his job to find homes for all the new babies. He can give them as gifts to his co-workers, family etc. :X3:

I see the eggs all by the plants and I always get surprised in the winter when I look in the pond and see I missed some of the babies .Most times garden centers are so busy that it is easy and safe there .Most pet stores will not take them but the garden center where I go is now thinking of putting a pond in and the other garden center built several ponds 6 years ago after they saw there was a demand for pond plants and fish

I guess I'm going to have to get a little more proactive this spring about rehoming and finding a permanent outlet for them.
Thanks Sissy, I will look into a few local centers.

maybe you can convince your garden center to put in a pond and start something new for them and for you .
