I really never tend my plants around the pond .I tend my plants in the yard more .Thing is every ones temps are different as much as the size of the pond and how many fish and what kind of fish you have .When I first rebuild I test often and then as time goes by i test less often .I also try to save all my pond water before i rebuild the pond .I even give some water and filter material to new ponders here where i live .I have less and less time for pond work also ,so it always gets shoved to the back burner .The to do later list that seems to grow longer and longer .Even my lily pond has to take care of it's self these days .I did give away 10 banana plants that I had over wintered in my basement and several canna plants.Thank but those plants take care of themselves also

Read what Gemma said.. Throw your test kit away and let nature take care of the pond. In the very worst case(or in the spring when you open it) drain half your pond and refill it with clean water.
