I have found on occasion that there is no easy way to remove the barbed fitting, for example I use a secondary small waterfall that came with a fitting that is not removable and it has a barbed fitting. What would i do there if i wanted to connect to flex PVC?
Or should i just go from barbed to corrugated hose to slip/threaded connection fitting?
That i think perhaps what the OP is asking.

I’d have to see it to make a recommendation, but if you have access to both sides of the fitting, you could drill it out w/ a hole saw and install a bulkhead fitting.

I was able to find the piece that threads onto the filter and provides PVC inlet.

It’s just dry fit right now as the sun is going down and I’m tired but I noticed the flex PVC is a tight squeeze into the inlets. Any tips for when I bust out the primer and cement?

many thanks.

It is a tight fit, the cement will help eith lubrication but the best thing is a pot of boiling water. Dip the end of the flexpvc in for a minute or so to get it flexible, dry it off quick, apply the cement and attach. After being heated it'll slip on much easier and as it cools give you a very snug fit. You can also use a hair dryer or lighter if you're fast and careful but in my experience hot water is the most fool proof.

Excellent! Glad you found it! PVC is actually more difficult to dry fit than to glue. The glue dissolves a tiny bit of the surface area of the pipe and fitting allowing them to weld together. I think you'll find that, when you go to glue, they'll fit together just fine.

Glad it finally worked out for you. Dang, that one was a challenge... for all of us!

I can only imagine how many trips you took to various stores to finally gather all the pieces of this puzzle.

As long as those fittings at the filter are schedule 40 pvc they will be compatible and you'll be good to go!

Let us know how the gluing goes.

Really the problem was the amateur on duty the first time I went to pond shop. The next time I went with the same part and picture took the other guy less than 10 seconds to get me the parts I needed to use flex pvc like I originally wanted to.

Your pond looks beautiful!
I especially like the wide and high-flow waterfall!

Yeah, that was unfortunate the first person wasn't that knowledgeable. It caused you confusion and cost you valuable time.

Well, your pond is full, pump and filter running...a major milestone.

Keep us posted on your progress with the finishing touches.
One thing I've discovered, I'm always tinkering with something. Move this rock, tend to this plant, you know....

A HUGE bit of advice here, as noted above; GET A UNION for each line; attach it quite close to the filter. You'll want this as if you try to separate the lines from your filter now, you'll have to twist the whole unit or pipe, which is NOT something you're going to like. Unions for every piece of equipment you might ever need to service.

[EDIT} I see I'm too late but you can still cut in a union on each line; just need to cut and glue them in, waiting 24 hours for it to set up.
