Oh i would be willing to bet all eyes will be on the pond when they walk up i'd be more worried about them walking into the side of the stairs to the from stoop due to looking at the pond and not where they were walking.

@ATP and i already talked about the edging along the stairs in a previous post where i told him to have the entire pond dug rocked and ready to fill before he did that edge along the walk along with other suggestions.

THUMBS UP

@YShahar great minds think alike. i had the same using that same area as a planter and sitting area. sitting on the steps will leave you wishing you had somewhere to leave a bench or nice comfy chairs set up and not have to pull them in and out,

Your falls are all at the edges or narrowest parts of the pond . the splash from the falls will be a loss of water and require constant replenishing.

Like i had said before if i had to do it over again i'd make the pond narrower and longer. but that can require seeming but seeing as your driveway is right there it's easy beans.

Ok this drawing is a bit of a mess but it's just for thought.

1 the blue pond
2> green bog
3 pink spill bowl
4 bog can be any shape you'd like by making it a bowl and pulling the falls inward can help with that and widen the area
5 the yellow would be liner as it wraps up the wall of the bog and around the pond and i would make it go under the spill way bowl.
6 black in the bog liner over laping the pond liner brown is the outer edge of the bog
7 ran out of pic for the intake bay i would make that at the upper right and maybe have it point diagonal kinda like under the pile of rock
8 i would also put a return jet in the far opposite end of the pond closest to the stairs pushing the water out of that corner
9 orange pavers

Thanks! @GBBUDD I did have it set up this way and didnt like it as much. Perhaps, I will revisit this design again. I updated another picture with more details. We were planning on a bench or adirondack chairs on the other side of the walkway in front of the house. Actually, gives a bit more privacy and shade in the morning. I liked the bowl to the right of the doorway as you enter the house but I kinda like this bowl placement too.

Curious why you are suggesting two liners? is it to save the waste on the orange section? How high would i need to make the bog in order to overlap a second liner? I dont think the spillway bowl will need liner under it. I ordered the Aquascape spillway with a lip made to flow into their other larger zero edge bowl.

@GBBUDD @YShahar
How about something like this :D. I like it. Its now about 15' (including bog and intake) by 25'. I think a couple adirondack style chairs would look great there too.
The reason i turned the bog and rounded it inward was one so you would see at least one of the waterfalls as your driving up to the house. MEAN WHILE looking out the window the falls on the left is turned sidesway where your looking more at the side of the falls. while also the same veiwqe but the other side of the same falls is seen as you drive up . The falls closest to the intake is more dramatic for the window and seating view. That alone could sell a house down the road. the other is to be safe a minimum of 3 feet from the falls to the closests edge of containment/ liner to collect the splash. THE ONE FALLS ON THE LEFT LOOKIS CLOSE to the edge but i do like the idea of the pond encircling the corners of the bog . that will be a great look maybe fill it the lawn up to the rocks there on the left you could even have a small accent leaker falls pointing right at the stairs but is more like a kitchen SINK with the amount of flow at half power

but it's starting to look like your getting a design ironed out.

one other thought i have a peninsula with my pitcher plants a huge eye catcher with water on three sides it might be worth bumping the edge of the pond out for your bowl or maybe have the bowl completely sitting in the pond

Here is what might be the winner and hopefully just a few final tweaks. I am trying keep this within a 25x15 rectangle and this is what works for the bog. I do like your design but I would probably need to get a bigger liner or a second liner for the bog. I do like how this looks so for now I am going with it. The falls closet to the house I should be able to see from my office window, at least thats the idea. and the other fall I will turn it so its facing the sitting area and driveway. I am open for other ideas on that spillway bowl. I think there are a lot of options. As of now I will place it where it is in the mock up you did and my picture after that. I could even have it cascading next to the bog...who knows. It will be here tomorrow so I am stuck with it.

If all goes well, i will get out the paint tomorrow and start digging.

The second picture is lousy and wanted to focus on the window screen but you get an idea what the outline will be.

I would lean toward a separate liner for the bog . you can overlap everything in all directions containing the water and as waterfalls are the most popular source of a leak , when you start building youll find out why quickly

now I am intrigued. Why is that? The splashing?

EASIER plain and simple easier and containment can be more encompassing build the pond and the run the liner build the bog with a shelf in the front of it but within the water of the pond and that is the containment wall for the bog USE Big boulders YOU MAY EVEN WANT TO CONCRETE THEM TOGETHER on the back side of the rocks making a strong er wall i would then probably install a 2x 8 or up to a 12 behind the rocks but lower than that will contain the bog rocks . this way the pond liner goes behind the rocks on the shelf but in front of the 2x and up over the 2x. then the bog liner comes up on the back side of the 2x up and over which is now overlapping the liner from the pond and your water proof.
tricky part is where the water falls out of the bog . the containment walls need to be at a absolute minimum of 6" higher then the water level in my opinion

A minimum of 6 inches higher tan water level at a minimum.

Spill way bowl not only MUST have liner under it it should also have it 3 feet in every direction . Again for splashing . And as one ne member had just found out recently having a taller set of falls can greatly be effected by the wind as it can blow the water streaming off the falls to land outside the liner creating huge water loss.
