Well- It's finally done. Still have to redo the electrical and find some way to make this big box look somewhat like a pond. Spent all day yesterday draining the old pond and capturing fish. Currently have 10 koi (6- 30") in the new pond and 9 koi (6-12") and all this years fry in the old pond. Will trim liner and finish small details on stock tank filter this weekend and start landscaping. The big koi love the deep water!

I use a pond floating heater but am considering an air pump this year as we had a lot of snow last year and the heater got covered over and the pond froze. This pond is more above ground than our old pond but is a lot deeper so I'm hoping it won't freeze too bad.

working on it, actually got one section of the stream edged today and the waterfall into the pond rocked. Finally had decent temperatures.

I wish I would have known it was going to be cool today. I almost killed myself out there yesterday trying to catch all those fish! I can't wait to see how your pond turns out Addy.
I so wish we had the area to make a natural pond instead of a big box. We are 250' from our driveway and it is all on a slope so ther is no bringing in heavy equipment.

It is slowly coming together. The slopes make great stair climbing machines, free even.

Well we got our 14 excess mutt koi sold last week. Have 5 adults and 5- 1 year olds in the new pond and 9- 1 year olds and this years fry (2-3 dozen) in the old pond. Had to shut down the 150 gal. filter as it developed a bad leak on one drain. Have a back up tank so no problem. I did find fry in my floating plant ring. Thought at first they might be shubunkins as I had some in the old pond but there are no fry there. The new pond is 2 weeks old and the koi have spawned! I guess there will be a lot more fish for sale next year!

Thanks- Actually hubby dug the pond itself and then fell. I got to do the postholes. 22 in all, 2 ft. deep and yes with a post hole digger. Would loved to have rented a machine.
