Will Dwarf King Tut papyrus overwinter in zone 7 if the roots stay in the water? ….. in 6 years of my pond I have never had any ice.
I’m in zone 8B and have a papyrus but I don’t think it is the dwarf variety… We had an accidental discovery with ours… We have two pots full in our pond… One pot remained upright with the roots in the water and the greenery outside of the water… That one died back over winter and came back thriving in the spring. The other pot happened to fall over so the greenery was partially submerged in the water… The part that was submerged actually stayed green Throughout the winter… I stupidly righted the pot And that put an end to that lol but it also came back thriving in the spring

Good deal…. I am going to let it grow and before frost I am going to cut it back below the water line….. worth a try….. let you know next spring
