I planted the plants but haven't added more water yet. I'm waiting for it to settle and I'll add some gravel to the top of the soil to keep it from getting stirred up easily.

Oh yeah, I had to remove some leeches from the root balls of the arum. O___O

for some reason leeches never even entered my thoughts of being part of the equation. I suppose it would be only natural to find them. They don't bother me too much, just hadn't thought about it before..

I had the idea of scooping out as much water as I could so that within a week or so the water level should be below the dirt line. should help quite a bit with adding the gravel and not causing another mud swirl.

forgot to take a pic of it while it was still light out. tomorrow.

ta-da! I think it'll look better with a layer of gravel on top of the mud. maybe some cattail in there.

It is looking nice. Cat tails would be good and if you want to put gravel in go for it.

Start searching craigslist and you will have all you future pond supplies in a hurry on the cheap!!!! Liners, complete sets, with skimmers and falls. Or make your own.

Hello again everyone! My half barrel sat on my front porch all winter. I kept enough water in it that it would remain an ice block. So far, there has been no sign of the arrum re growing. Which is sad, I liked that stuff. I may have to get another.

The mystery plant has regrown though. It has tried several times but our temps have yo-yoed. I had about three inches of water in this but we got a three inch rain yesterday so it just about filled the pot.

I picked up at Lowe's three plants to put in this. A pickerel rush, dwarf cattail, and a Lousianna flag iris. I'm already seeing some mosquito larvae, so I need to deal with that.

Anyway, just checking in. I'm excited that gardening season has started.

Get a few minnows and put into your tub, no more mosquitoes.

Got them this afternoon, 6 fatheads. Do you think they'll need an airstone going?

I also planted my plants. They came in a biodegradable net bag, so I just dug a hole and plopped them in.

An airstone would help keep the water from being real stagnant. I would add one if it was my lil pond
