With my mulberry tree!!!!!!!!!!!

My patio is stained beyond recognition, my pond is red, my fish are scared, FLIES and maggots everywhere, I can enjoy my patio furniture because the stained and fruits on them. I have tons of mulberry EVERYWHERE. Cant step out of the house without tracking blue/purple stain everywhere, my house floors need to be mop everyday because of it. AND now my backyard smell rotten of all the rotten fruits!!!!!!!!!!!!

This year is the worse.. it wasn't that bad the last years I've live here, may be the cold did it good. It has 3 times more berries and I'm done with it.

I'm getting it cut! I'm a tree lover and love that it gives me shade but I cant take another year with this stain. I have other mulberry in the front too so i'll still be able to eat it if I want.

I'm going to find another small - medium height tree. After I take the mulberry down I might be able to move my dwarf cherry fruit tree there and may be another. it's going to be about 5 feet away from the pond so I think if the tree is not a tall size one I'll be fine.

Any recommendation on fruit tree near the pond that's suitable for NC weather?

I also have fig... but it's a bush.. so I might not move it there.. I want something that's more like a tree than a bush.

Cutting this tree will give my pond a lot more light.. My bog plants might survive...but I'll have to move my super shade plants somewhere else.

Thanks. I just had to take my frustration out. Even letting my dog out is messy job coz she would step on them and get stain all over the floor and her body too.

The tree is not directly by the pond.. there are about 5 feet space between the pond and the mulberry but if I get a small dwarf fruit type tree it'll not be raching over the pond. I want bigger fruit so at least I can clean it easily, not the tiny berries that mushy and breaks when I touch.

I looked and they look great. The one called French petite one looks great but the semi-dwarf one is 10-12 feet tall. I'll have to figure how tall, spread I want in a tree before decide to do anything :)

My dwarf cherry (fruit) tree is more like a bushy type it said... so I might not put it there.

I still have a fig that i might be able to move there... the figs (2), a cherry, a raspberry, and a mini blueberry are all in the same small area... I need to make some adjustment soon.

We had a mulberry tree at our previous house. It mostly hung over the neighbor's driveway. My hubby wanted to cut it down, but I didn't want to lose the shade. But I understand completely why you don't like it!

I always liked to watch the squirrels...I think they got drunk on the fermenting fruit!

Love to eat mulberrys but wont allow any to grow on my place. Even when the birds eat the fruit they poo and it can stain your car etc. But I do find them starting to grow in my flower beds etc., planted by the birds. I cut them off all the time but they keep on growing. Tuff little trees. Would not want them near the pond. I would also like to plant something fairly close to the pond to offer some shade but not sure what I would plant either. :)

I was against cutting it 7 years ago. I love having fruit trees in my yard. The thought of just picking fruit off the tree took me back to my childhood. I had mulberry in thailand but it wasn't very close to home, a few house away.

After 7 years this year is the worse. Now all the tons of fruits are fermented and smell rotten and flies and maggots everywhere. I tried to clean off my patio but a few minutes later there are hundreds more...there are less birds this year. I used to see lots but a few this year and animal don't eat the berry fast enough.

I love tree, I'm a tree huger but can't take anymore of this one. I'll plant something in it place though :)

We have several mulberry trees in our yard, and they have tons of berries this year too. I guess they don't bother us much because they aren't near the house.
FYI Anya be sure to do some checking on the species of plum trees, if you choose to go with plum. They are very picky and most if not all species need two or more trees to produce. Good luck

Thanks fishylove for the tip :) I read at the site that sells them and it mentioned how the tree pollinate but I didn't understand until you said it. Thanks.

I think I'll see if I can just move one of my fig there. Plum can be pretty tall, well, fig too I guess lol.
