What is this "winter" of which you speak? 
Actually, it does get fairly cool here in winter, and our area can even get snow on occasion. Sadly, with the average temperatures going up, we haven't seen snow since we moved in over 20 years ago. Some plants, such as cannas, will die back, but most will just lay low for a few months.
