My ponds have usually balanced out, once there are enough fish in there, they eat the eggs as soon as they are laid. I have never had to give fish away, so far. One reason they get very little food from me.

Tbendl, invite a heron to visit, no more to many fishies.

I had looked around before finding this forum, no pond clubs or even garden centers nearby. I was tickled when I found a place that sold WH last year, (they didn't this year though). The only thing is Pet Smart and I doubt they buy or get fish from just regular humans... You know not breeders. There might be a fish store in a neighboring town, I will find out.
Sigh....

My shubbie babies are anywhere from clear, to mottled dark, from when you can barely find them. They change as they grow

.....yet!
I figured I wouldn't have to worry about this for quite awhile but at the rate their going, soon may be Thanksgiving...
Lol
And I always thought fish would somewhat self monitor when it came to population control so I may be over thinking. I just hate what seems like the only alternative at this point. :blackeye:

My last pond, phoenix, ran for 6 years, never culled, never tossed, never over stocked. I would not worry so much, see where things go, if nothing else if they spawn find the eggs and yank them. Put in spawning mops or nice plants they like then pull the eggs.

@tbendl I saw a "funny" on FB this morning that reminded me of you. Can't for the life of me remember what it said, but I shared it with the general public, so you may or may not see it.....
