@GBBUDD this drawing is much closer to what I am trying to do. The former installation had 8' wide drops and was not well thought through by the guy helping me.The falls are not 8 foot wide but only 2 foot wide here and a foot there or 30 inches wide in one controlled drop View attachment 151674
from that post it sounds like you have the right idea dont forget little pools on the hill they can help in a major way stoping /colecting water in motion that way only what is actualy falling will be in need of containment at the bottom pond@GBBUDD this drawing is much closer to what I am trying to do. My goal is much more like your drawing. And yes each falls is going to be 6" -2' wide. My aim is a few larger sheet falls with interest points created by diverting some water off to an alternate smaller falls.
Are you worried I don't have enough water or that I am missing someth
Liking and understand why your thinking of using that heavy tree stump and saving a buck. but it is wood and to hold back a hill side will mean you'll be back in 10 to 15 years when it rots out or from termites in that case as little as 5 years possibly. My big stump I noticed just this weekend is getting hammered.Quick update and a question:
the update: I am planning on hitting the waterfall hard this coming Thursday - Sunday. I have help each day so hopefully can get most of the large rock in place. I'll update as I go.
I have another question for the group: What is your strategy for using stumps/wood in your features. I know it helps it feel more natural.
I pulled a stump out of my hillside a few weeks ago and have cleaned it up, cut off all the stray roots and have a pretty clean stump.

So now I want to figure out how to use it to help hold the hillside up / make the waterfalls feel more natural.
Just need some insight into the strategy.
Oh yes. I have some. I'll post pictures this weekend. From tha

What I would do is cut off a good chunk of the bottom and set boulders around it . And liner and fabric under it.
I love seeing falls or streams running over or through a log . And from all the responses on my pond so do a great many people. Hobbit falls is what we call ours.
How's the progress going you got to share some photos? This site is like porn to us we realy love seeing others sweat building there ponds. We don't do this for nothing . Oh wait we do .
That makes sense. I am trying to focus falls inward so that splash is directed to the middle as much as possible. I have more work to do.Keep in mind that splash you want to collect all your water it's amazing how much and how fast you can lose. but simple things like plants can helpminnthat regard
