I also have alien fish. I have goldfish and one koi. Last spring I noticed a black fish, Thought he was a goldfish that was not turning orange as rapidly as the others. Wrong. He is still black. He is much larger than my goldfish, but not as large as my koi. And now I have a few more of what look like him. When the weather is warmer I will be removing them to investigate further. Will try to take photos.

We have a few black fish that we assumed were goldfish too, but by the second year they still haven't turned gold. We'll see what happens in the spring. We had a few that literally turned from black to gold over night - it doesn't take long once they decide to change!

I have had goldfish that start out black and stay that way for several yrs then whamo one day they start to change to orange. Had one that was over 6" before he started to turn. I have no koi, only goldfish.
