Smart birds for sure. Glad to hear the net works. In case any folks from the Carolinas are reading, the second largest heron nesting site in the US is in concord North Carolina. We have a semi permanent resident in our lake and an occasional white stork. Had an osprey feeding of the lake last year but he stopped around July. I haven't been hit yet.

Yep. Netting, by far, is the best deterent, but even it is not 100% effective as these are patient and determined birds.
Short of netting, a vigilant and randomly positioned variety of deterrents is what works for us.

I purchased the majority of the materials I need. I paid a little extra because I decided to use 45mil EPDM pond liner rather than PVC or HDPE; and because I want to pour a concrete collar around the edge. I have kids and I need the durability I know I would be paying for it later if the side caved in or if they tear the liner.
I will probably start setting up the forms later this week and hope to have the concrete poured by Friday or Saturday. I guess its time to start a full 'Build Thread' on my pond. I will take lots of pictures throughout the install. I want to THANK all of YOU for your input, experience and opinions it has been a great help in my planning and design.
