I didn't try tm, just picked up xx amount and used them until they were gone. Then go more, still have three piles to use, just small piles. Our wonderful maryland rock has turned to mush so needs to be replaced.

I am not sure there is a real clear cut way to figure it out. There are lots of variables you have to consider. If you are doing a waterfall you will use more depending on how you stack or place them. I have been collecting rocks for 8 years now and just got some more a few weeks ago.
