How to figure out pump size/type

well if your water spills back in the pond right next to the pont of draw, some, maybe alot of that water will be recirculated back thru the filter. if you draw the water from the opposite end your circulting the whole ponds water volume.

That was my guess.

Looking into the Laguna filters and I'm thinking that's what I'll end up ordering. Dh is checking them out now too.

one more question...
can I just plumb from pond to filter without having to go up out of the pond and over into the skippy filter?
not that I'm sure how to do that - cutting into 2 liners and getting a watertight seal. Not sure what plumbing fixtures will give me that seal like I did with the drain.
