looking forward to getting my new plants in lilys, lotus, mosiac, and water poppy.
I am going to plant everything in pea gravel this time around. Plus, I am going to repot a few plants too (the dirt is making a huge mess in my pond).

i picked up some lillys from homedepot and they came wraped in some sort of burly cloth and in a net bag. The package said just drop in pond so i did and now my pads are about 5 in long and its only been 5 days. Should i take em out or that sack thing and pot em with Pea Gravel or leave it?

I have that same thing (from last year) Mine have never bloomed and it is a small lily. I will be putting mine in pea gravel very soon. I think the nutrients in the soil is doing nothing for them.

Once we get our pond up and running I am sticking them in the black pots (got tons) with pea gravel.

In the bog the plants will be put right in the gravel, except any real invasive ones, those will be in the bog in a pot to control them, but with pea gravel.

When I first started out, I put my lilies in oil pans. They are big around since the tubers lay sideways. Weighted them down with pea gravel. My fish kept digging them out. Now, I have them planted in the rocks at the bottom of the pond. It is 2 feet deep on that side. They are doing very well and are multiplying like crazy.

I still keep all my plants in oilpans &pea gravel....you just have to put a layer of larger river rock on top to keep the koi from digging in the gravel....especially during the spawn!! They turn everything upside down looking for the koiviar.(eggs)...my marjinals are bare root or in peagravel in 2 gal dollar store buckets. THE PEAGRAVEL ALLOWS DIRECT WATER CONTACT WITH THE ROOTS. SO THEY CAN DRAW NUTRIENTS EASILY WHICH MEANS NO MORE FERTILIZERS
