I get the bagged already cut salad stuff they sale at Costco, the bags are dated but actually last for weeks after the sale by date. The ones that are kale , cabbage etc, not lettuce. They last beautifully! The spinach, lettuce stuff gets slimy real fast.

When I did a safari in Africa, they had a bunch of cabbage, made it into dinners, deserts, breakfast. That stuff does great lasting. And they did not have ice boxes.

I eat a huge salad for every lunch, hubby gets a bit smaller one, (don't tell him I cut the salad material up he is eating a lot more than he thinks!)
I love that power green mix from Costco...I put it some in fruit smoothies, some I eat raw in sandwich or as side dish and some I steam...love it!

OK, here I sit, working on my second (generous) glass of wine reading all the healthy things y'all are eating & thinking, "Crap. I'm gonna die"

Although, they do say that alcohol kills the corona virus, so... I might just stand a chance.

If you are healthy and under 70 you have better than 95% rate of survival so enjoy your wine! The problem if it gets spread it to someone else who may not be as lucky. We are staying home except a once or twice weekly trip to the grocery store. My wife goes an hour before they normally open when they allow seniors to go before everyone else. ...Just finished season 3 of Ozarks. Very exciting end!

We are staying home except a once or twice weekly trip to the grocery store.
We have only gone to a grocery store twice in the last 1.5 months, Costco when we first got back from Florida and Costco on Thursday. Plenty of food in the freezer.
The main reason for Costco , first trip TP we were out, stocked up on salad stuff creamer and a hamburger (tossed in the freezer)
Second Costco trip, protein drinks for hubby, COFFEE was running low. Forgot to stock up on it. But this trip spent around $600 ribs, hamburger, sausage, etc tossed in freezer for future use. Bags of fruit. We will be just fine. Our favorite sea food store will deliver, about 5 miles from us.
Being two old farts we eat a lot less then a family does, we are very lucky to be rural, we can self isolate real easily.

And sitting here waiting for it to warm enough to work the bees. Watching my fantails swim by. Need to clean the cam lens, but it is not too bad yet The snails crawl across the lens quite often and clean it for me.

Like you @addy1 I do feel fortunate that it's just my husband, our grown daughter, and me. Very easy to plan and prepare food. We've been to the store twice since the beginning of March and, after the second trip, won't need to go again until the end of April. People keep warning of food shortages, but so far we aren't seeing that in the midwest. There were limits on a few items, but the shelves were basically full of everything. They are limiting the number of people they allow in stores, but we're hearing that's because people were using the stores as a form of entertainment... bringing the whole family and browsing around. Some stores will only sell "essential goods" but relax... liquor, cigarettes and pot all made the list of essentials!

Don't try to buy your kid a bike though - not essential. A friend of my daughter's was trying to do exactly that - it's her son's 10th birthday gift - she stood in line outside her local Walmart, went in to grab the bike and got in line to pay for it and they refused to sell it to her. Ridiculous. The supposed "damage" of her being in that store had already been done. They told her she could go to customer service, order the bike, and have it shipped to her house... how does that makes sense? Spend MORE time in the store, have contact with MORE people. Just dumb.

We live in an area where lots and LOTS of folks have summer homes and the locals are LOSING THEIR MINDS because "those people" are coming here to wait out the stay at home order and buying "our groceries" and "our gas". My thoughts are A. they pay property tax and bought those houses - who are you to say they can't choose to come and use their own house? and B. without "them" you wouldn't have local grocery stores or gas stations because the off-season population sure can't support them. Ask the local businesses how THEY feel about the additional customers... I bet they're happy to see them. These are the things that worry me - people turning on people. Our neighborhood Facebook page is full of neighbors telling other neighbors what their kids should or shouldn't be doing outside, reporting on cars parked with out of state license plates, keeping track of who's coming and going with a boat on a trailer. It's CRAZY. Like we have a bunch of tattle tales deciding what's OK and what's not. Ugh. Calm down people.

The weather finally gave us a break and I got a few days to putter around outside. Puttered so hard one day I could barely walk by evening! haha! I have a looooooong list of projects that I am slowing chipping away at. The garage clean out took me three days, but now it's so nice to know where to look for stuff. I have a hedge that's gonna meet up with my chain saw in a day or so... part of the "get to it this summer" list that just got popped to the top! I figure it will be easier to manage before it starts putting on leaves.

I've been taking several long walks every day with the dogs - they're living their very best life right now. The people are home all day for petting and walks every day. What a life!

I joined that nextdoor thing I have turned off the notifications. Too many people jumping on others for stupid stuff.
Facebook has been calm, but I do not have many on my list and very seldom post.

I have huge to do lists can keep busy here all sumer without issue. The one thing we sort of regret we can not drive to our boat. A hour drive and no reason to go there. We are listening to the do not drive orders. Good self isolation here at our house, a bit less as the boat.

Costco had limits on the cartons of eggs and milk allowed to buy. Just one of each. Zero tp or paper towels.

We have a super walmart here, refuse to enter the store. The parking lot is always full.

OK, maybe I'm just slow on the uptake, but... could someone explain the 'do not drive' thing to me? I mean, not driving to go on unnecessary trips to the store or other public places, but - just going for a drive? If I get in my car, drive around & look at the scenery through the windows, and return home an hour later, who have I possibly cross contaminated with?

Or, in our case (living very near the Blue Ridge Parkway) hiking is one of our regular activities & we have to drive 45 minutes or so to get to the trail heads. Outdoor activity is not only NOT disallowed, it's being encouraged (at least in NC), so... once again, I'm in the car - but not in contact with anyone else.

So, why 'do not drive'? I'm really trying to be reasonable & follow the rules, but this is one I simply don't understand... (like I said, maybe I'm slow?)

In Md you can go out to exercise, essential things etc., but they really don’t want you driving and going to parks and public places. Had a problem here with that just a week ago with a bunch of people going to the parks and beaches, so they ended up closing them since people weren’t listening and added a stay at home directive.
@addy1 even if you could drive to your boat, you aren’t allowed to use your boat right now unless it is for sustenance fishing or crabbing.

At least here, most are listening but enough People aren’t. taking it that seriously. Like everything in life, abuse leads to more restrictions. My parents neighbor for instance is a pilot who just stopped flying a couple weeks ago, he is treating this like a vacation going out playing tennis, taking a cruise down to Annapolis with his family on his boat to get take out dinner. Let’s his dog come over on my parents property, who then starts barking at my mom jumping at her and won’t come back to him when called. So he comes over within a couple feet of my mom to get the dog and talks to her. Now she could have just gone into the house but she didn’t trust the dog so she stood there and held her ground. Now my mom and dad are both in there mid to late 70’s with underlying heath conditions, both are in the high risk category as it relates to the Covid Virus. There neighbor while a nice guy is the problem with many in this society that are just worried about themselves and not how what they do can affect others.

Unfortunately i do understand why they are asking for complete stay at home. You go out for a drive and you even look for a gas station with no one there. doing your do diligence right. you pull in and break open your credit card slip it in and punch in your pin. grab the handle and start pumping your gas... Well ..the credit card can now be hot ....... your finger that just punched the pin in is now hot...... and the gas handle was hot........ People have been asked simple historical questions . and to state the pledge of elegance.....They can not there not even sure what it is..... People are stupid.......... yes you may understand how a virus can potentially be spread but trust me i am essential services i see everyday many folks being very careless if not dangerous..... I remember immediately after 911 like days after the EPA said that they had received thousands of calls asking if the dust from the collapse was a health issue....And to my dismay they said it was fine that there was no risk.......... I about flipped.... towers were built before 1975 when asbestos lead paint and silica were starting to be banned and phased out... Well here we are again the cdc right now has this on there web site that you have to be around someone for 10 to 30 minutes in order to be consider exposed.....ARE YOU KIDDING ME....... Any health care worker DR. or medical student and just the educated know that's a crock .......

We too do not go anywhere except to the store when there is a full moon, meaning not very often, lol! I do go for a walk each day or a bike ride. Just us two here and can't visit w/family etc. just on the phone or Facebook. Can't pet the dog up the road anymore. She is sad but we are alive. They are saying these next two weeks should be the worst and then hopefully a down turn for all states. Our state is doing really good so far at keeping the distances and trying to hold our own. Wanting to see the death rate stop and # of disease rates go down.
