Hey all, I have some Hibiscus Coccineus seeds and would appreciate it if someone can share planting directions. I plan on growing them indoor until they are ready for a bog environment. Thanks!

I rubbed mine on a nail file, slightly messing up the coating, put them between some wet paper towels, into a glass, closed a zip lock bag over the cup. Stuck it in the sun on a window ledge (inside) full sun. A few days/ a week (can't recall) later had roots.

I did pretty much the same thing to the seed only used a needle to stick the shell of the seed. Some when I did that went flying across the room........whoops! Then I just stuck in some good potting soil barely covered w/ soil and kept watered. Every one of those 20+ seeds grew! I did this the end of last summer and then kept the little plants in the garage here over winter and now they are outside in pots till I move them to their permanent spots.

JW, yours you sent me back looked really good, each one had at least three growing shoots and good roots. I'm glad I sent the seeds out now I at least have a new start. Thanks!

I'm glad you like the looks of them and hope they continue on to grow nice healthy plants for you. They've been across country now 2 times, once as seeds, now as starts...........who knows what the future brings for them, lol! Thank you for sending them to me as seeds. They sure are easy to start from seed! I'm still waiting to see if my big dinner plate pink Hibiscus comes back this year and if it does I hope it will bloom this year and then go on to produce seeds. Last year it didn't bloom. I can send you some of those if it does.
