The fox has wandered through our yard, the skunks do a wonderful job of digging up underground wasps nests and eating them. Raccoons, they ignore my pond. Opossums, try to get into the bird food, squirrels like to be fed. Deer eat the falling apples, our corn, plants, but not so much it is destructive, birds love to be fed, eat up the bugs, frogs, fit right in, bugs zero, frogs one.

At work today getting close to the end of the day, I'm in one of my boss's offices ( which is next to the highway that is very busy) horns are honking and cars are stopping, tires are squealing. I look out and here's this little dog out in the road, scared to death. I run out and there's people across the road watching and some man pulled into our parking lot and is trying to get the dog. I'm calling for the dog and then I whistled and got its attention. It then started to come away from the road and layed in front of my car in th shade. I walked over to it and reached down to pet it hoping it wouldn't bite, it didnt so picked him up and took him into my office and gave him water and after a while he settled down. Called one of our radio station and also the animal shelter to give the description of the dog and my phone number. This little dog is such a nice dog he kinda looks like Addys new dog. He gets along with my dogs which is a plus, but still trying to get him to his family.

We had a few moose loose in the city last year and the year before. It was cute and entertaining to read about it in the local paper everyday. The city had to catch him and took him back out of town as it was being destructive to the golf course and was dangerous to have such a big animal loose. My cousin hit a moose many years ago with a truck and he died very quick. Not good to have in your neighborhhood, especially if they are starting to breed.

No phone calls today looking for the dog. This little guy is starting to play with toys and is so much more relaxed then yesterday. I'm such an animal lover that I'm already getting attached to this dog, even hubby that doesn't want anymore dogs really likes him. Tomorrow I will call a couple more radio stations to see if they will put it over the air.

:( Yesterday afternoon a man came in with a sign wanting to put it in our buisness and the sign said lost dog. Yep it's the dogs owner. After talking to the guy I learned he was down the road half a mile from where I work and that they are living in a motel room. I'm really amazed the dog made it down to where I work without getting hit cause its a busy hwy. So today I'm taking Ceasar ( thats what he told me his name was) back to them. I have really mixed feelings, I'm glad he's going back to his family but on the other hand it makes me sad. When I came home from work yesterday he came running up to me and started flipping circles and jumping on me, he was really glad to see me. I think he was getting as attached to me as I was to him. I really hope that these people will be more responsible with their dog since they are living on a busy hwy. The guy told me that his son had him and he doesn't know how they got separated :(

Addy the dog isn't a yorkie it just reminded me of your dog cause he is multicolored. He does however have ears like your other dogs picture :).

Oh mt sorry you are losing your new little friend. Maybe when you take him back you can let them know that if they ever need a safe loving home for him if they can't take care of him for any reason that you would be glad to have him back. If they are living in a motel it sounds like they might be having some difficulties w/finances. Hope they can keep him off that hwy and can afford to keep him fed and healthy.

Well maybe you will get to see him again. They can since love .Well saga with the skunk continues as I caught him by my pond last night and sure did not want to scare him but was wonering now if he could be a threat to my fish .I read the are vegetarians but will eat other things (huh) no clue what the other things could be ,could it be snails like the wild ones in my pond .There is plenty of fresh water in the woods for skunky to get a drink and I threw some bad apples and pears from my trees out there .I wonder if he could have been after the juicy water plants so i took a whole bunch of the fairy moss and put it in one of the water things in the woods .Not sure what else to do .

I can't see the skunk being a big threat, they are fat and they waddle when they walk and don't move really fast, but I don't really know, maybe they have a "quick front paw"!

The poor puppy has to go back to the motel, not a real good home, and he probably got scared if he lost his owner. Lost, nowhere to call "home", and owner no where insight, panic set in and he "fled"!

Wow, MT, as I told my daughter, animals know animal lovers. He came to you because you seemed to be trusted. I'm glad you got to give him a nice place to stay for a few days, but also glad his owner found him. Can you imagine how upset the owners must have been? Think of it this way. If they didn't want him, or couldn't afford him, they would have left it as it was. BUT, since he made a sign and was going business to business ... I think that little guy was truly missed. Maybe they don't have a radio, or didn't listen to the right stations. It's always good to reunite animals with their owners. Sadly, I have people around here that want to get rid of their dogs, and just dump them off in the country, hoping someone will take them in. How sad is that? He sure was a cute little stink!
As far as the "stinker" goes, Sissy, I wondered about skunks and ponds, too. I think most fish are safe, if the predator can't get them into shallow water. Once fish know there is a predator lurking, they will go deep. My koi saw my cat on the edge of the pond, and went deep for a while, and it was feeding time! I was glad to see that. When there are two or more people on the deck at feeding time, they also are much more leery, as usually it's just me. Good luck, I would be more worried about not seeing him until the last minute, and then he/she sprays you!

Last summer I took the rocks out of the bottom of my pond and this summer I had decided that I would take them off the sides of the pond. I have been so busy at work this summer I wasn't able to take off. I was able to take four days off this last week, but the weather had turned cold so I kept waiting for a warmer day. Even if I could only get one side of the rocks taken out I would be happy. So between hubby and I we did it. I pulled out what I could from the top and then the next day he got into the pond and pulled out the bottom half. Was proud of him we are talking about 55F in the water. We added a ledge and I'm working on getting the rocks put on there and looking good again.
