44 days until spring. Snow is really starting to melt due to the warmer weather that we have been having the last couple of days. Forecast for rain and snow showers tomorrow.

Currently 25, and lightly snowing, no ice left on the pond and fish still resting. Another fish accounted for today, so I have seen 12 of my 14 fish .
Tonight when I took the dogs out for the last time looked up on the hill and about 50 ft from the house we had 7 deer laying down. Hubby says he's seen them in the same place laying down before.
43 days until spring.

The deer know spring is sprung and may have changed up there resting spots and maybe looking for birthing places soon maybe or something?

My pond free from most ice except the bottom pond, fish started to move around a little too.

The first little signs of Spring coming here are always these little snow drops bulbs.
And both my hardy palms made it through the winter so far :banana:

Man, I really love that rock in the first picture, JW, behind the snow drops!!! Really neat how it has lines on it, kind of like "worm trails". And, those hardy palms are to die for. Guess they are hardy in your area, but probably not in my Zone 6, huh? Also, did they do all that new growth this year, or is that from last year, just greening up really well now? Very pretty!

Colleen it's 41 days until spring, missed a day because I've been posting in the wee hours the next day and my mind is still on the day before?
As long as I'm having the warmer temps I don't mind sharing at all. I hope this weather continues cause I'm liking it too.

Yep, me, too, MT!!! We are having rain now, but that's fine, too. Ponds need some fresh water and the ground can sure soak up some more. There is water standing, but it will hopefully get soaked up. I don't see much in the ditches yet, so not much run off. Now, those on the east coast have got some trouble heading their way if they are around NY! Wow, those two storms are going to collide and cause some major problems. They are already saying next to impossible to drive starting tomorrow evening in many areas. Stay home, sounds like to me!

Keep that storm on the east side of the continent please! Hopefully it will just blow back out to sea somewhere! We are having nice weather here right now, feel sorry for those down that way!

Yippee, and it sure feels like spring here in Illinois. 42 so far this morning, heading up to close to 50, with rain. Thunder going on outside, nice to hear since I'm inside and dry.

I should have bought more cold hardy palms and hope lowes have end of season again on them.I have 3 right now

So, now I'm curious, what zone do the "cold hardy" palms work in? I'm in Zone 6, and can't remember if I've ever seen them at my local stores or not. Probably if I saw them, I assumed they were tropical, and avoided them. Now I want one, but assume I would have to mulch it very deeply for it to possibly survive when ground freezes. That's probably why they aren't sold around here, but curious if anyone knows. I know, I could look on the internet ... but time for me to leave for work!
