I was down inspecting the pond and oh crap, (not the words said) saw the intake cover broken off.

My home made intake for the pump fell apart. I lost two nice fish and a bunch of trap doors, over 25.

My intake is 3 inches, it can be decreased to 2 inches if better. I was using a minnow trap, worked great, distributed the draw over a good area. Well it rotted and fell off.

In the pumps leaf filter were two fish, horwort and smails. Enough stuff it slowed down the draw.

In the past used a 5 gallon bucket full of holes over time it collapsed from the draw.

The pump draws around 6800 gallons per hour, 10 feet from the intake.

Sucks in hornwort, fry, snails, if the draw is not distributed.

Any and all suggestions welcome, right now turned off.

OH drat, that had to be a mess. I'm sure others will have a more durable idea, but the minnow trap idea would work for a while. And the bucket probably last for a long while too.

Feel for the dead snails and fish. Think I will go for the top one, no need for the check valve, my system self primes

Just thrilled I saw it before more loss of life.

No kidding. That top one looks stout too.

Mesh size 1x1/2 but if the draw is spread out, less intake of critters.

Glad you were able to get it fixed so fast.! Constantly having to deal with bog outflow getting blocked on both ponds. Extra hard now that we have electric fence in lower yard. Keeping deer out but us as well!

Deer LOVE my bog and eat any lily leaf they can reach!

It is from Webb gardens, 253 bucks, but it should work and a easy install.

Need to cut off the end of the pipe and clean it well.

I do major plant removal in the bog, now need to do major parrot feather removal.

@addy1 Glad you found a fix fast!
Thanks to Amazon, saves me quite often. I went to Webb, but could not deliver until a week or more, same price.

So click, on its way, here Friday.

will the deer eat those plants too if you toss them? course they'd be good compost too.
