Hi can someone please help me.I have a pond for ducks 10m x 10m round I have just put a new upvc liner in it.The old one used to have big pockets of air come up in the middle of it for some reason. So what I done was put a load of old slabs in the bottom to weigh it down and this worked. So when I put the new liner in I left the old one as it was and put 5 ton of soft sand in it followed by a good underlay and then the liner.I have half filled it about a foot and a half of water, whilst it settles down and bugger me I have these big air pockets again.I got in and walked them out to the side and they went but they soon reappeared. What is a man meant to do.
Regards Steve

I hate to tell you this, and really hope I'm wrong but it sounds like you have a gas release problem if your getting that much air under a liner, 1st off, get it tested! what is it? If it's methane gas or H2S it could be VERY dangerous, toxic, and explosive! Any chance that your property is over a old land field? Are you near a swamp or large low lying body of water? Do you ever smell anything that smells like rotten eggs?
You could vent underneath the liner but address the first problem, find out what kind of gas is being released. contact your local authorities and explain what is going on and that you need this test done ASAP!

I agree, with one exception, naturally occuring Methane gas is odorless and colorless,
H2S is hydrogen sulphide and does smell like rotten eggs.

TRUE, Forgot to state that with methane. H2S is more common here due to the marsh land.

If it's water then it's no big deal, If it's actually air/gas it could be a big problem. need to find out what it is and striking a match or bending down smelling to see if you smell anything are not the routes you want to be using to test with...:yikesu::lol:

You could push a piece of pvc down and see if water comes out, you might want to have a cap on it that you can pull off once it is in place. Remove cap when you are far as possible from the pipe.........arms length. don't be looking down the pipe

shouldn't cost anything, If that is what it is, that is a health concern, local officials should come check it as a public service.
