May be instead of the 1 -2 inch you could use 2 of them and still get it closer to the top .I know looking at my prefab it has a large lip on it .I wonder if there are any kind of oval connectors or pipes or maybe someone should invent one that you could glue together in a 3 or 4 inch .I remember here they softened a pipe with heat and flattened it for out flow wonder if you could flatten a regular connector slightly .I know I flattened abs 4 inch for outflow.It wasn't easy ,but did it, took more heat than pvc to flatten

Also maybe if you take an ABS elbow and have it directed into the prefab facing up you can probably get the water level just right....

guess your getting an elbow and maybe I will be using this preformed I have laying around for something after all .I have 2 others but a friend wants 1 and the other 1 a neighbor wants it .The other one I bought .Now you can have a 3 or 4 inch and put an elbow on each end one going out of pond and one going into the other pond
