I dont know a whole lot about bogs... is there a thread somewhere that kind of explains what they are, how they work. (I'm sure I could search, but I bet somebody here knows exaclty what I'm looking for)

I knew somebody could find that way faster than I could, and i now understand the concept. Thanks!

I dont want to start a war here, but It seems to me a bog is probably the best way to filter your water after seeing that, and all of these filters everyone is building are just trying to recreate that in a smaller manner.

I recently built a small filter based off of what I had seen in the DIY area to supplement the other filter I have sunken in the bottom of the pond. It seems to be working good, not that the water was really bad before, but i can see a small difference.

No war, everybody has their own method of filtering, their own way making ponds, etc etc

That is what makes the forum fun, a lot of different ideas, what works for you or me may not work for someone else. My bog works and works great..............for me. Others have doc, skippy filters etc etc they work for them on and on.

Yeah, My grandma had all of these old galvanized wash tubs around and asked if I wanted one for a planter, and I decided that although it is smaller than a 55 gallon drum that a lot of people seem to use, I'd still like to use it as a water feature, and if it does a little filtering along the way, it sure wont hurt.

If I ever get the chance to build a bigger pond, (which I'd love to do someday but I think I better quit while im ahead for now. I finished this one and still have a fiance and a family, so I think I did okay and didnt spend too much time or money on it) I think I would look into building a bog for it.
