Mucky,

I wanted to state that very same notion. Pay the young kids to do the heavy work and teach them the trade!
It's not usually hard to find kids who are willing do do something for a little quick cash. My two boys are always getting hired out for odd jobs like that, packing furniture around, shoveling snow, cleaning roof gutters, etc... They can quickly and easily do stuff other people would find impossible, and they are happy to get $20 - $50 for the job.

Congratulations, Mucky, on raising two fine boys. I've found that most kids nowadays would rather sit at home playing video games, and hitting mom or pop up for the $50.!

LOL, Thanks John, but my boy's are like most other kids, and like to spend a lot of time playing video games. However, they are capable of hard work,,,,,, when asked.

Hi,

Sorry I didn't check for updates on this thread.

Here are some pictures of what I did with a section like that and the product I used. My pond is still under construction, so ignore the mess. The water hyacinths that are in front of the deck is hiding some of the liner - as you can see, I have plenty more to hide. But plan to do a mix of plants/rocks/raise water level to hide it.

As you will see in the background, I dug very near to a rock/cliff area. How in the world I'm going to hide that .... I don't know. Since these picture I stacked some rocks inside the pond and tried to bring them over the edge, but then it just looks like a pile of rocks stacked up hiding the liner. Sooooo I'm interested in the rock on a roll. Has anyone used it? Does it really look good? The video I saw on it didn't do it any favors. Since I don't live in the US, its a real hassle to order stuff and get it here, so I'd like to know if anyone has seen/used rock on a roll and actually likes it.

The product I used (grey floaty), its a long strip, in the picture its bent and crushed. I cut it into 4 thin lengthwise sections, so you don't really see the floaty. The label on the floaty says Self Sealing Fermetur Auto - I looked on Amazon, didn't see it. But I'm sure if its in Cayman, you'll find it in Home Depot or Lowes.

Let me know if you have any other questions, I can take some better pictures if you want.

Creeping Jenny and Watercress. Here is a picture of my former patio pond with a mix of Creeping Jenny and Watercress. They completely trailed down the sides by the end of summer.

Also, I saw this at a local fish store and plan to do the same this year. They had pond baskets filled with lava rock and stacked them on top of each other to make a "pillar." They planted water plants in the top basket.

crates are great as plant holders but make sure the plant sets on the crate sturdy .If you cut an opening in the crate it gives your fish a place to hide also .I use an old cat litter top .The flat ones are better .Put the plant on top and wire it to the handle of the kitty litter top and you can use the bottom to plant in

Also the low growing junipers that spread up to 8 feet out do a nice job of growing and covering up. I have some that have very nicely grown down over the side of my pond, along the edges of the stream, blends the rocks covers the liner.

I did find one picture on my computer, I changed computers right before coming down here, all my photos are at home.
You can see the ror under the rocks along the bog edge, I cut it into pieces attached it with some pl roofing goop, made the lower edge, round, or with dips, angled etc Made it blend in and look like rocks below the rocks along the edge. It is a vertical edge 2.5 feet tall. The ror edges go below the water, it has been installed for a few years now.
