i hope they dont sound dumb but when u say 20 or 25 percent water change
how much water is that?? should i drain all the water out of my 55 gallon filter
is that 25 percent?? whn i do a water change i just take it out of the big drum
and i add more

20 - 25 % of total water volume. A 1000 gallon pond would change out 200 gallons for 20% or 250 gallons for 25%
