I wanna see your "first time pond builder" card.
lol I have built some odd things for others in my day like a replica Japanese kabotta . MRI , CAT SCANS, Transmission lines in marshes, over mountains. Museums and a full size replica of stone henge. but nope never built a pond stream or bog before. Sorry not for sale! I would love to build these for a living . Especially after building my first and learning a few tricks along the way. thanks
BEAUTIFUL JOB
Thanks lisa I can't wait to see what it looks like In a couple years. lol I can't wait to see what it looks like in a couple weeks either for that matter every day that I punch away at it and cross off another task from the list.

Honored to have been one who had a chance to see the steps and effort taken into your build. This will be epic and stand as one of the best pond builds here hands down. T

Got the bog hooked up to the pond tonight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Still have some issues to work through as the last foot of stone will be going in on Friday, but the water level is only an inch and a half away from over flowing the sides. Building up the sides more is not an option but I will have to either lesson how much water goes to the bog or drop the falls a little. The pond did cloud up when the bog fired up we will see how things go. I did decide to have a second smaller 2" perforated pipe bog. outside the bog so if I ever have to do any maintenance to it I will have a back up and not disturb the balance of the pond too badly.

That is an awesome feeling isn't it to finally have the bog running. Great work I had that same experience today and am hoping to have my green water go away before too long or at least cleared up enough to throw in some mosquito eating fish without filling guilty. You will have to share more on the bog bypass idea. I am very interested. Great work as always, inspiring.

It is but it was also a aggravating decision to use dirty river rock. it didn't matter from which of the suppliers I have in this area all but one the stone is just very poorly washed and trying to do so with a garden hose didn't cut it either but in order to finish the bog I had to use 2 yards of 3/8 pea stone with a mix of 3/4" to 1" river rock but the sedimentation was not what I hoped for. Regardless I got the bog all filled up with stone today and planted some 36 rush, 5 lizard tail , some for get me not and some dwarf cat tails, black iris and clover. The big plant order I made got chopped the obedient plant and lobelia come to find out were not available which was the majority of the planting of the bog even the bog bean wasn't shipped so I have less then half the bog planted. N E X T

Tillion I just dug out an area off to the side of my stream and made it a foot deep plus. I seemed the rubber and made the area for a 2" perforated pipe and pea stone that will dump out into the stream. The termination will be 4 to 6" stone lessened down to the 3/4 to 1" to hold back the bog area. it's only going to be about 8' x 8' and I plan to plant it all with golden club.

Decided against cutting down the snorkel. by the time the plants are established you'll never see it. The bog is not disappointing what so ever the dirty river rock yesterday completely clouded up the pond to the pond the second a fish went down and was no longer on the surface you couldn't see them. well today the visibility is at least 3 feet deep and that's a dead bog the plants don't have the root base as yet to help filter. And then there is the second small two inch pvc bog that will be my back up if any thing should ever go wrong it is 8' x 8'

We started to wash the gravel, gave up. Just dumped the 38000 lbs in let the pond water flow through it. The dirt went away quickly. When I pull plants it mucks up the pond water, within a day it is back to crystal clear.

I love it! Your “backup bog” is bigger than my actual bog!

And yes - that snorkel will soon be completely under cover!
