I use that when I make my concrete stepping stones .I just make up a plywood form to the shape I want and staple that tightly to the edges and put black plastic scrunched up for the bottom of the form for texture .Great that you can make all kinds of shapes with it

Did you use the connector that comes w/ that stuff and did you seal it w/ glue or what? And what did you use to attach it to the sides? and also the bottom seam?
It looks very nice floating in your pond w/ the lettuce inside............perfect!

Ok I see the ties that you used for the bottom but did you use those for the sides around the black plastic edging also?

if you wanna make it neater or just have ocd like me use fishing line to hold your net to the pcv tubing so you dot have a bunch of zip ties, and you can loop every hole in the netting takes some time

Yep that is the way I have done mine but it just seems a lot easier to use the zip ties and it doesn't look like you would see it when in the water if done just right using the zip ties. It took me forever to sew the nylon thread on mine

so far I have made four floating planters and my hyacinths are over flowing. I made one for the school and added several small plants. I figure whatever grows outside the basket is food for the fish.

koyguy, the planters work great, so glad you showed how to make these.

I found a pair of toads in one, they covered the plants and basket with eggs, they like it too.

One thing I didn't notice until an hour ago, the plants I brought to school are covered in fish eggs. I don't know if they are koi or goldfish. Can you tell the difference? I thought about taking them back home but this would give a new gene pool for the school pond.

The plants have been in the planters and there were no fish in the planter so they must be swimming across the top of them, since a lot of the eggs are on the top part of the plants as well as the roots.

Nova if they have a big black dot and jelly like they most likely are frogs. Mine where big globs of jelly with tons of black dots.

I think I found some fish eggs, a lot smaller black dots.

These were frogs, no fish in this pond, tons of tadpoles now.

not frog eggs, they are fish eggs, individual golden eggs attached to the roots and leaves. I don't have frogs in the large pond yet. Last year I had a large bullfrog but it doesn't seem to be around this year. I also ended up with chorus and leopard frogs last year but nothing so far.

I have a young bullfrog in my small pond.
