I have had no problems with any predators because of 2 things:

1. I have several large garden spinners around my pond
2. I have shade sails over my pond

Closest predators get is sitting in a tree thinking about it.

I do much the same thing, but block their landing path with spinners and shinny things hanging on strings that are tied from tree to tree. The blue heron has a very large wing span and cannot land with things hanging everywhere above pond.

Thanks Robert, I have been working on this pond project for 20 years now, I do a little more work every year. This year I want to build a new fence and finish the cobble. The work never ends....
