A water level is infinitely more accurate then is a Line level. Line levels are a great tool but they are usually so cheaply made. Even if you find one that is quality made the placement of the level on the line and how tight you pull the string are critical to achieve accuracy.

LINE LEVEL. I'll remember that... for approximately 60 seconds. Hey, my pond LOOKS level, so I'll leave it with that!

For something like a pond with 3 to 6 inches of side wall that holds the water in on average is more then enough to absorb a line level being off a 1/4' over 20' Not saying it will be but it could be

ah, Lisa? How do you use a plumb bob to find level? I thought plumb bobs were for finding true vertical?
