so then I guess I would be using rubber connector sleeves to make easy removal of the drums.

We are using some rubber connectors also to facilitate changes as we build and winterizing.

here is the planned layout. please offer thoughts as I want to do it the right way the first time.Should the pump feed the 55s individually or should it feed one and then overflow to the next?

also hard PVC no 2" hose?
