This is getting pretty complicated. You can do a ton of stuff with that waterfall basin actually, anything you want.

But if you want moving media without having to deal with losing the pieces, I think you'd have to buy some kind of colander that you put into the basin. The media would be free floating inside, then just lift the whole colander if you if need.

BUT, like the Helix moving bed filters that they sell, it is not necessary to clean it!

Hey I wonder if I cut a circle ring w/a big hole cut out in the middle of the thick media stuff for the bottom of the tank would that be ok as a grate to keep the small stuff from getting sucked back into the pond? Or would it collect too much gunk on it..............yep I'm afraid that might happen. Actually it's only the hole that needs covered so maybe I could just stick something in/on the hole that fits tight so water can get through and out easy but not the stuff. Hey John you just popped up w/ your post now and gave me an idea of maybe just using the colander on the bottom to keep the stuff above the sucking tube. Just put a rock in it to hold it down. Yep this is getting silly now so I'll just think of something. I have plenty of time cuz will take me forever to get all the stuff to put in it as media.

get a small sump pump to use to clean the bottom muck plug in when you want to clean you could put in bottom and leave with a little hose sticking out and of course the cord

Good idea! Could do that but would rather not have to bother w/ doing anything, just throw in the stuff and be done w/ it :shy:
