Well that is very good news Garden lady, nice to hear the fish found safety in the crate! The fish will hide and stay hiding when they are really spooked, so you probablly couldn't see them down there. Now you will have to keep that crate in there for them to hide. You can put a big rock over it and then it will be like a rock cave.
Well you know...back in July of last year was when I joined the forum asking for help because my pond looked like mud had been tossed into it, and the pond place sold me several products to clear it up but it didn't work. I was told by one of you to put quilt batting into a container and have the water run through it and it would clear it up. And it was amazing how quickly that that happened! Whoever suggested it also said to rinse the batting every so often with hydrogen proxide to clean it which is what I continue to do, as I still use the batting. The container that I have the batting in sits on top of that crate which is what saved my fish. *it's in one of the photos I added the other day when I posted about losing my fish*. So whoever told me about the batting is the person ultimately responsible for my fish having been saved! When we redo the pond to make it much deeper and also larger I will continue to use the crate and batting although I will try to set it up so that the batting/container is not quite so obvious.
