They all start out grayish or black and some turn to their colors of orange or whatever fast and others can stay black or gray for years. I had a big black goldfish for several years. He/she was about 8" long and then one day it just started to turn orange and some turn white also.Also, can Goldfish be uncolored? I noticed some fish the size of my baby fish(fry?) except they looks like blackish drab colored fish

I would stick with gold fish. Get some shubunkins, they have great colors. The one koi will breed with the gold fish and you can get overloaded with fish pretty quick.I think I will put at least one koi in my pond, after it gets it's makeover of course

I have never mixed them, those that have will comment on it. I have read, on here, that they do cross breed, usually sterile fish. I have read the may also get as big as koi.Wait they will?? How big are the result? I will take a look at shubunkins
