Mine is a skippy style filter, and I have just added 55gl barrel with the water swirling, which then feeds the filter. I am amazed at how all the solids gather at the bottom of the 55gl barrel right above the dump valve.

do you have a flush valve on the skippy too? i put them on my filters. and yeah, they really do work ....its amazing how much comes out on a flush.

Yeah, I also have a flush system on the skippy, makes for real easy cleaning. In the last 3 days visibility has gone from 6" to 4' after starting the pond up again a week ago.
