Have read a few posts & articles about raising the sides! Like that idea and think it will work for me.

Was laughing at a YOUTUBE video -- and hubby & I always get a chuckle out of the HOME & GARDEN shows on TV: 3 guys with shovels made the digging look soooooo easy! We have several different kinds of clay here, and I think that much digging, even with ADDY's Kubota, would be the kind of effort they wouldn't show on TV (no one would want to build a pond if they didn't make it look EASY  )

We are a mix of clay, shale tons of rock, if I dug another I would rent a large backhoe to make the hole then fine tune with my kabota

They always make it look easy gives you a false hope yours will be too .I have clay also and I dug it out by myself and raised the sides and liner well think it was harder than the digging .The things are heavy and hard to manage .I did it by myself but would have been a lot easier with more people .I love the garden shows also and love watching you tube videos .Live and learn . :goldfish: :goldfish: :goldfish: :goldfish:

Sorry for all you folks (snicker, snicker) that have such hard soil to deal with. We have lovely sandy soil w/ great drainage and is such a breeze to dig a pond here, lol! Now if we just had your lovely Spring, Summers and Falls (you can keep your winters) here it would be like paradise!

my aunt lives there and Auntie came in to visit and she said she goes out at night and she has had a battery get so hot it exploded in her car .I guess you would not have to worry about cooking out just throw the food out on the side walk and check it once in awhile to see if it's done .I know I have to improve on my shade sail over my pond before next summer .
