I had a eucalyptus removed from next to my arizona house, Tall tree, leaning, and breaking limbs in our wind storms. That one tree cost 1575.00 Insured bonded well worth it, it could have wiped out part of my house or part of the neighbors

Definitely hire someone. I had a huge elm removed and the guys did a great job. It cost $1200 but the house, garage, other trees, garden and overhead power and cable wires were just fine. I wish I knew how to do it myself but I know my limits.

This was 8 years ago and he retired from the business :(. His name is Keith. He had a small tree service company in the Milwaukee area. He had been an arborist for the city of Milwaukee and then started his own business when he retired from the city. Check with friends and see if they would have anyone they would recommend. Where are you in NE Wisconsin? With the logging in the northern part of the state there may folks that would do a side job.

I'm in Green Bay, but don't have any trees large enough to worry about. But I have a brother who is a certified arborist who knows a lot of the guys in the state & was curious if it was anyone he knew/worked with.

Most certainly pay the extra money and het a tree service that will come in and remove the tree from the top down. Iy does cost a little more but 99% of the time you'll be happy in the end. I have used Pro-tree in the past. They came in cut the top out and one branch at a time took the tree out, when they were done the only thing that was left was a great spot to put a flower bed. 100% removal. Near buildings or ponds, I most certainly would pay them to do it again. And you know, I do cut a lot of my own trees every where else on the property. I'm by no means afraid to break out my own chain saws to drop trees.

BTW, love your pond

Thanks! 2003. Reason I ask the company name is my brother can remember a Ken who worked for the forestry department in the Milwaukee area and who was also the ISA president and has a company with that name. He's made various friends through the industry in the last several years and worked throughout the state, so if you would need work done again in the future and have a question about a company feel free to message me and I can ask him about them for you if you like. It's an interesting industry to say the least full of a lot of good people, but at the same time full of a few less than perfect ones as well. If your doing a removal, obviously less to worry about as long as their insured (always ask for proof & make sure it's current), but if your pruning always get a certified arborist.

Thanks. I will keep their name in mind. I am thinking of having ssomeone look at the ash tree behind the pond. I hate to lose it and wonder if treating for ash borer is worth the money.

We had our big ash by the pond treated in Feb 2013. While it doesn't look great, it's holding on!

Mine still looks good but I see alot of ash trees that won't make it and I hate to lose the tree. Could I ask how much it cost to treat your tree?

Well, it's happening a week from Wednesday, which means I've got a lot of prep work to do before then. Got to round up all the boxies and put them in temp. quarters. Got to pull all of the plants from the turtle-bog and temp. house them -- one of the trees is about 3' from the bog, so it's potentially in danger -- plants out, and a ply wood cover over it for sure! Have some other plants in the habitat to remove so they don't get damaged, then have to take out some of the temp. fencing...... And may have to rig up a tarp to cover part of the pond to keep debris out.

So, we'll see how it goes.....
