Critters I saw on our trip

We have a ton of squirrels around my house but they are the kind that are brown and enjoy destroying manmade things and do so with dedication

Ooooo.... I get to travel to Michigan about 3 times per year, all the way from over here in Washington. I get really excited when I see the black squirrels. I think they are lovely! I visit in January, May, and September, so it's always a different variety of wildlife sightings, it seems.

Beautiful photos Maggie the black squirel was very different than the norm are they the same species as the grey?

@Dave 54 Yes, the black squirrel is a varient of the gray squirrel.

When my daughter was going to school in Iowa City, there were alot of black squirrels. They had a reddish sheen to their fur when the sun hit them. I have your basic gray squirrels here. The small red squirrels are farther north.
