I am hoping for some ideas and better yet, pictures, for what you all use for a cover at the top of your waterfall. Ours is an Aquascape filter and we have been using a flat piece of slate. It is not a very natural look.

This is what we have now. It works just does not look like it belongs. I like the idea of the rock tray, though will I still need a lid somehow somewhere or does the top just stay open?..

The only problem I see with your set up is that is looks like the water is flowing up, out of the ground….from the middle of nowhere. Maybe add some large rocks to surround the area beside and behind the skimmer….to give that area some height. It doesn’t have to be a rebuild, just adding to what’s already there.

The top just stays open. if you plant in some larger plants and they take off it could potentially camouflage fall completely. your just looking for something to soften up the edges or go the route that @Mmathis suggested which would also work.

Or a combination maybe. I have a 2500 so Amazon has the tray for 107. I will see if the pond builder has ideas for adding a few stones.

I would recommend the rock/plant tray, you can simply blend the filter out with rocks.

I have a screw-on lid on the top of my bio falls. I lucked out at the time of building it. Home Depot had these cool little trays of planted sedums that were intended to be used as-is. The plants were not meant to be removed and planted -- instead, the trays were to be used almost like tiles. You could use several to cover an area with low-growing sedums.
I bought one and plopped the tray right on top of the ugly cover. Over time, the plants have all grown and blended together. I still have things I would do differently - but in general, I am happy with the plants on top.
I am in zone 7b and they come back every year!

Thanks everyone…please post pictures if you used the rock tray. I ordered it and will post pics as well when I install it. Does anyone have suggestions for plants to use on it?

Here are a few pictures after I removed the large slate and used the rock tray and plants. Does this look better? Any further ideas? Thanks for the help
