That's a gorgeous clematis @tbendl ! Maybe a Jackmanii variety. Looks very similar to mine.

Yes, Lisa is right - it is a clematis, clematis niobe.

Is it growing on a cage of some sort? I looked it up and it says it's a type vine. Full sun? It's gorgeous and I want one! Lol

Boy, you are on a plant binge this year tbend! It is a vine and it is growing on a trellis pretty much in full sun. Here is a picture from April.

So where are these plants going? Bog? Pond? New flower bed?
I'd show you a picture of the three plants I ordered, but nothing is happening with them yet. I got them bare root and planted them 3 weeks ago .... not a sign of them.

Bog. I think. I really only had planned on buying 1 but they were $6 and I love all the colors. I might try 1 in the pond.

And then I went to buy my husband a saw today, and I left with an outdoor rug, a pot, 15 plants, and almost forgot the saw.

well lucky you remembered it .I trade plants .The other day i got a red banana for a cold hardy one .They also have another kind of elephant ear that I want .

I'm so happy to see my clematis in the front yard flowering this year. The deer have been eating all the buds off of it the last couple of years and it hasn't bloomed much. This year I tried 'liquid fence' deer and rabbit repellent and it is working great.
