One of the most effective methods to cool down a body of water is to increase it's evaporation rate.
Placing a fan that blows across the water surface will help, depending on what the ambient air humidity level is.
Thank you! I have a fan on the fry nursery tanks inside my house , and one for the outside dog, why it didn't occur to me to put one up for the ponds?! Our humidity is low and temps are high! ( living in calif I'm just thankful I'm not on fire!!) the water of the "pond" I'm concerned about is in 3'x2' 1/2x1' 1/2" . It's my fresh water clam bed with 5 minnows and 3 trapdoor snails ( who I have brought in and put with the fry) and some pond snails. I have a pump set up to run water like a continuous river current and a couple aerators. The shallowest part is only about 7" deep. I have a green shade cloth over it giving them very little morning sun. The water temp when I posted my question was 82* I think? I did a water test all numbers were within range. ( I have them wrote down just not handy at this sec. ) I know they would prefer a cooler river temp but they clams and fish seem to be handling it. But I do put a 2 lit frozen water bottle in when the outside temps gets too hot for too long. After all this , am I doing right by them? ( no one has died and yesterday I pulled out about FIFTY fry!!! Some say if they are breeding they are happy! I'll take any suggestions or thoughts!! Thank you!! Stay cool everyone!

My pond right now is 82, it has reached 86 or so before. My fish do fine, same with the trap door snails.
