That would work ponderpaul, I have a ton of milk crates, hauled them full of tools across county. They have many many uses lol.

Milk crates would work great for small fish. I specifically wanted to open more swimming room for my growing koi, so I needed another solution.

If you're cutting crates, I'd make sure they don't have any sharp edges before putting them in the pond.

not using my crates, the work for tools to well, all my tool boxes are full.

Forget painting white PVC----just use plastic electrical conduit-----it is exactly the same material, exactly the same size, similar price, but is usually dark gray colored throuout---NO PAINT.
They even have UV protected kinds---for exposure outside.

If you check out restaurant dumpsters, sturdy black plastic crates are routinely pitched.

Poifect for plant stands in ponds, they can take over 100lbs load

Best to used a turned over pot as suggested, or rocks, I don't think I'd like the looks of crates in my pond but it might be interesting once covered algae, the fish could hide from the dog in there lol
